Prevue's founder, Jennie Schraer, is a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW). She is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and has 15 years experience in the mental health field.
"I've worked with kids as young as seven and adults as old as 103, and I've loved each of those stages of life, but for insurance purposes, I'm sticking to the 18 and up crowd right now. I believe in inclusivity, and am delighted to work with folks of all racial identities, gender identities, sexual orientations and neurodivergences."
Jennie's mission is to empower individuals and couples to overcome challenges and live fulfilling lives. She is committed to creating a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore their emotions and develop a toolbox of interventions that improve their daily lives. Her goal is to make therapy accessible and effective for everyone seeking positive change.
Jennie doesn't believe in endless therapy. "We should have a goal, not just 'come see me every week for the rest of your life!' I want to help you reach that goal, at which point we'll transition into less frequent check-ins, and, ultimately, and when you're ready, end your time in therapy.
Therapy can be fun, and it works better if it is!
I think I'm a pretty fun person, I bet you are too, so why can't we have fun together in therapy? If going to therapy is an absolute slog that you dread each week, odds are pretty low you'll keep going. If you don't like your therapist as a person, odds are even worse you'll keep going. I can guarantee I'll like you, because I admire the heck out of anyone brave enough to take steps toward a better life, and that's what you're doing right now.
I'm going to be rooting for you every step of the way, your own personal cheerleader. I'll definitely want a high five when you're killing it in session, unless we're working on germaphobia or OCD, in which case, we will get there eventually! We're going to find humor together in the worst places, I'll probably cry with you on occasion, and we'll feel like the best kind of team.
You'll never be charged a no-show fee at Prevue Counseling. Jennie feels strongly about this. She understands that therapy can be hard, that you might have a day when getting to your session isn't physically or emotionally possible. The absolute last thing she wants is for you to feel pressured (financially or otherwise) to attend a session when it isn't right for you.
Jennie believes in the importance of communicating expectations with clients. "It's my job to give you a comfortable space, one you feel excited to walk into and empowered to be vulnerable in. We could be in that mindset 90% of the time and that's awesome, and if that means every now and then you just are not feeling coming to your session, you shoot me a no-excuses-necessary message, whether it's five hours before or five minutes after your scheduled time, and I'll welcome you back next week."
